Here’s a quick recap of what went down last Friday during the adidas x Star Wars launch that saw Limited Edt Vault at 313 thronged with fans and their families as well as curious peeps who saw ‘Anakin Skywalker’, ‘Darth Vader’ and some ‘Storm Troopers’ walking around the building. Singapore has some huge Star Wars fans who practically lived their childhood, with light sabers in their hands, pretending to be Jedi Knights. These guys have grown to be daddies now but still have that piece of memory in their hearts and what better way to relive that childhood than to get some shoes for themselves as well as for their tiny tots.

Limited Edt Vault joined the Dark Side with this one, showcasing an awesome display of personal collections including a 10″ Star Wars x Kaws x Medicom Bearbrick as well as museum showpieces.

Yesterdays event at Limited Edt Vault over at new mall 313 brought a festive cheer to the store with crowds thronging in to witness the opening of Vault within the store, that houses a myriad of extremely rare kicks like Pigeon SB, Paris SB, adicolor W1 to name a few, and to also feast their eyes on an exhibition of the girls that made Kiks Tyo and Erect 81 so popular among the young and trendy and not to mention pubescent males.

On a grander note, Limited Edt also dropped the AJXI Space Jam 2009 that saw fans queuing up just to get their hands on the most anticipated shoe of this year. Only 24 pairs were made available for the early birds and another 24 were via a ballot. But that didnt deter interested yet unlucky heads. Some stood outside like hungry predators waiting for the not-so-interested prey and still managed to get what they wanted albeit with a slightly bigger damage to their almost empty pockets caused by that huge gifts for girlfriends and wives.

For those who didn’t get any, fret not. I’m sure that money will go to good use in the watering hole you’re going to tonight!

So much has been going on recently I don’t even know where to start! Orchard Road has always been a shopping belt but it just got even better with new malls sprucing up. Orchard Central was one and then where was my personal favorite and the huge-assed mall, Ion. But things didn’t stop there tho. Just a couple of weeks ago, 313@Somerset sprung up and in it is Singapore’s very own Tier 0 door, Limited Edt Vault.

They will celebrate this opening in a huge-assed way too. Come 23rd December, the store will be transformed into a Kiks Tyo and Erect 81 exhibition, with a special Kiks Tyo x Aya Kaguchi x Limited Edt Vault  collab tee being launched on that day. If that’s not enough, the much awaited AJ XI Space Jams will drop and only a mere 24 pairs will be available to the public. After which, those who weren’t quick enough can try their luck on balloting for 1 of another 24 pairs.

And it still doesn’t stop there! Every SGD100 spent in the store entitles each and every one of you to an instant lucky dip. Exciting prizes await you, my dear friends. Think ‘Gucci’ SBs, vouchers and….ohmygod…SPACE JAM!

Last night’s New Balance party at Helipad proved to be one that left everyone (well, most) losing their inhibitions and letting the alcohol speak for itself. Kicking the 999x Ferel Creation party was local band The Great Spy Experiment who did an awesome job warming us up. Then the infamous Lap Saw(Malaysia) crew took it a couple of notches up and got the party started! While the sober guys whiled their time away at the rooftop talking to this person and that person, the rest of the crowd were downstairs getting well, smashed. And by the time DJ Mykal(Taiwan) started his set, everyone was intoxicated enough to wake up today and not remember what had happened the night before. You know how that can be, huh. But in all seriousness, the party was awesome shit and kudos to New Balance Singapore and Japan, Mita(Japan) who graced the event and Leftfoot who made all this possible. With free booze, superb venue and friends and family, we’ve nothing to complain.

All you extreme sports fanatics, get ready for some action end of this month! Held at the brand new skatepark at East Coast, Singapore Xtreme Championship will come to you on 29th and 30th of August with 3 categories-skateboarding, aggressive-inline and BMX freestyle.  Via: plussixfive

Hip hop record label Def Jam came to prominence back in the 80’s with the likes of popular acts like Run DMC and Public Enemy attributing to its success. More than two decades on, they’re still going at it with Jay Z and Kanye West under their wing. Now celebrating their silver jubilee, Def Jam hooks up with adidas to come up with a collection that includes collaborations with the likes of Method Man, Young Jeezy and Ghostface Killah.

But the celebration didn’t stop there. Last night, adidas Singapore held a party at The Butter Factory to commemorate Def Jam’s 25 year success with lots of balloons, party favors and of course free booze. The party peeked with a beatboxing showdown by Kid Lucky(NY), Adam Matta(NY), Kaz(JP) and our very own local beatbox hero, Dharni. Each of them wowed us over, showcasing their signature styles, unique abilities and stylish beats. So, what if we put ‘em all 4 together on stage? You get a performance nothing short of stunning.

How do you look glam whilst trying to snap pics, and I mean good pics, of a star and by star, I mean Kobe Bryant? Is that why paparrazi are usually male? Anyways, on my first paparazzi-esque ( not that i’m proud of it. Well, in this case I kinda am, considering the strict security and the fact that only media and certain retailers could grace the closed door session held one the 2nd floor of Wisma Atria, away from the hordes of screaming fans right below ) episode, I got to meet the basketball player up close and even managed a shot with him(along with a few more peeps of course).

The session was very short but very sweet, what with his amiable nature. And before the NIKE staff could say ‘OH MY GAWD!’, Kobe Bryant was outta the store and making his way to the Indoor Stadium where he sure as hell didn’t show his tiredness since kicking off his Asia Tour just 2 days ago.

Contrasting itself with an uproarious crowd he was greeted with in the Philippines the day before his Singapore leg of the Asian Tour, the crowd at the Indoor Stadium was somewhat calm even with the screaming fans, save for this one guy who ran to the centre of the court right when Bryant took off his shoe to give to a member of the crowd.

2 lucky local players got the chance of a lifetime when Bryant pulled them out and gave them one-on-one coaching, with one of em’ even having had to run 17 laps across the width of the court.

Soon before long, the coaching clinic was done but not before Kobe Bryant threw and kicked signed basketballs to the screaming fans and took off both his shoes which were given to 2 very, very lucky kids.

Those who can’t get enough of the star needn’t fret tho. He says he’ll come back! Meanwhile, enjoy the pictures.

In what seemed like a really looong time spent queueing in the midst of uncomfortable humidity, the Air Yeezy launch last Saturday was quick and sweet for the lucky ones (myself included! YAY!) but bitter for the not so lucky. The supposed  final colorway of the Nike x Kanye West chapter came to a close last Saturday with over a hundred of them peeps snaking outside the Nike flagship store.

Here’s what went down…

Kudos to the Preduce team on their successful second full length skate video which was shot across Thailand, China, Singapore, Switzerland and the States.  Directed by Op Sudasna, the video takes you on a sometimes painful, sometimes funny journey into the chills and thrills of the Preduce team. The video was screened last night at Homeclub and was graced by many supporters.

For those who didn’t get  a chance to meet the Preduce guys, they will be at Boards N Stuff for a meet-and-greet session at 4pm.

In just exactly 2 Saturdays from now, you wouldn’t wanna be anywhere else other than at Wisma Atria’s Nike Flagship store.

Come June 6th at 9pm, in a joint collaboration with Limited Edt Vault, you can stand a chance, by way of a ballot, to purchase the 3rd colorway of the Air Yeezys which are only available at selected Asian markets namely Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.
And if Lady Luck doesn’t shine on you for these beige ones, pray hope she does for the grey one as a lucky draw will be held where one lucky dude will win a pair of the very first colorway in US10.5.
As hypely exclusive as it was the first time round, expect just a teeny weeny number of pairs this time as well. (Think along the lines of 40 pairs)
