One shoe, that’s all it takes to spark off an insatiable hunger to collect sneakers of all kinds. For me, it was a mere picture that sparked off my appetite.
When I first saw these babies on a website, my heart skipped a bit, the feeling you get from seeing your first crush or the way a dad would look at his newly born child. The shoe that sparked off my sneakerhead evolution - The Danny Supa SBs.
Released back in 2002, the Danny Supas were THE kicks that started the NIKE SB line and well, it was no wonder.

I am forever grateful to legendary skater, Danny Supa, for designing prolly my top 5 favourite sneakers of all time. A simple popsicle colourway rumoured to be inspired by the New York Mets, the Danny Supas were mighty clean, the reason why I love em so much.

Now, they are one of the hardest sneaks to cop and that is no mean feat I tell you. Funny thing was, when they first released, they didn’t exactly inspire much fanfare in the sneaker community - ah, how foolish we were in younger days.
So this is my homage to my first real sneaker infatuation. Though I don’t personally own a pair, I will grab a pair in future. Even if it was unwearable due to age, I would still put it in a display case, just relishing the feeling of owning em. Truly a grail indeed!
Big shoutout to the people at Sneakernews for the pics.
