2009 at the start was the tale of 2 major stories in the sneaker world. 2 big slated releases meant that 2009 was gonna be another year of kick copping and mad hype. Well since then, only one of those anticipated releases have seen the light of day, and the Air Yeezys have certainly lived up to their generated hype.
However, the other release still remained hearsay with Nike tempting its ardent fans with snippets of its potential release. Yes, til now, the sneaker world is still hugely awaiting the confirmed release or even a brief taste of the slated year end juggernaut release of the Gucci Dunk Hi SBs.
The year was 2005 and the cut production of the then slated to be released Guccis killed the joy of collectors the world over. 4 years has passed and the hype has not died down and in fact, it was heightened when first news of a potential re-release of the Guccis was released into sneaker news worldwide. Since that titbit was dangled in front sneakerheads, Nike has yet to release confirmed info nor sample glimpses.
But now hold on to your breaths sneakerheads worldwide, as first glimpses of a Gucci 2009 sample have surfaced.
Courtesy of sneaker boutique, REVIVE, who obtained a FT sample of the much talked about sneaker, shoe enthusiasts can now glance upon the potential make up of the Gucci Dunks. With significant aesthetic differences to its 3000 USD prototypes, this sample may not be the final end product but I believe the basic structure of the shoe would be more or less the same.
Comparing the legendary prototypes of ‘05 with this latest production, as seen in the picture above again usefully provided by REVIVE, one can see that the 2009 release still maintained the smooth clean design that we all fell in love with as its predecessor. However, the denim on the main paneling is seen to be more refined and the 09 model seems to have a thicker time as with current Dunk Hi SB releases.
If this latest peek is anything to judge by, the sneaker world is set to be rocked again by the entry of another megahype shoe. But this is provided that the good people of Nike grace us with a release in the end, but til then, we can all just be patient and keep our fingers crossed, dreaming of how good those kicks would feel and look in our hands.
